Can I move my Roomba docking station?
You can move a Roomba base. Your Roomba base location is mapped into the robot to ensure it finds its way back and recharges itself to continue cleaning or retire after cleaning, but nothing says your Roomba can’t find its way back to this base even after it has been moved.
Can Roomba charging station be on carpet?
Some people find their Roomba to dock better when the Home base is on tile/lunoleum, rather than carpet. Some prefer carpet. It all depends on how it racts in your home. Mine is placed on carpet, and I don’t have any heating issues associated with the charging.
Where should I place my robot vacuum dock?
“Docks need to be placed on hard, level surfaces,” Booth says. “That means no thick carpets or rugs, or any uneven surface, because that could interfere with the vacuum’s ability to charge.” The closer the dock is to the area being cleaned, the better the chance of the robot returning successfully.
How does Roomba know to dock?
When the battery power is running low, the robot uses its infrared sensors to locate the charging dock, which also emits infrared beams. The Roomba then follows the beams’ path toward the dock where it can recharge before resuming the cleaning session.

You should be able to relocate the home base without any issues as long as the basic space rules are followed.
Can a Roomba clean multiple floors?
Yes! The Roomba® i7 can remember up to 10 unique floor plans, so you can carry the robot to a different floor or a different home. As long at the robot has mapped the space, it will recognize its location and clean as directed.
Does Roomba go over area rugs?
Yes! Roomba picks up an amazing amount of dirt, dust, pet hair and other debris from your carpets and hard floors. Roomba automatically transitions from one floor surface to the next, including carpets, rugs, tile, linoleum and hardwood floors.
Why does Roomba take so long to dock?
Make sure that the docking station IR windows are clean and not full of dust, finger prints smudges. Try to move the doc station into another area of the house and try to doc it again. Make sure it’s within 5 feet without any objects that could interrupt it’s straight path to the doc station.
Does Roomba go under beds?

Should I keep Roomba plugged in?
Always keep Roomba plugged in when not in use. Recharge Roomba as soon as possible. Waiting several days to recharge Roomba can damage the battery. For storage off the power supply, remove the battery from Roomba and store in a cool, dry place.
Will magnetic tape stop a Roomba?
Yes, the XFasten Magnetic Tape emits a medium duty magnetic field which a robot vacuum cleaner, especially the Roomba type can sense. This will be a neat and ingenious way of marking off boundaries for your cleaner.
